HeraldNet reports Area firms could win big defense contracts.

"Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., a member of the committee, said the defense bill, which could be acted on today by the full Senate, includes some $100 million in projects for companies around the state.

Local projects include:

* $5.5 million for Bothell's Microvision Inc. to continue work on a helmet-mounted video display system for the Army."

Great to see continued funding made available for this program, less than a month after $3.85M was awarded to Microvision to keep it going. It's no small matter to "provide the pilot with information such as situational awareness, sensor imagery, flight data and battlefield information in a clear and intuitive manner."
