Microvision Demonstrates Support of Microsoft's Peak Performance Initiative at the Global Automotive Summit

DEARBORN, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 2005--Microvision (Nasdaq:MVIS), a leader in light scanning technologies, today announced its support of Microsoft's Peak Performance Initiative at the 2005 Global Automotive Summit. The Peak Performance Initiative identifies four core areas on which Microsoft and industry partners are focused, driving insight and innovation throughout the automotive community. Featured as one of 25 industry partners during presentations at the Global Summit, Microvision's Nomad Expert Technician System supports the sales and customer service performance pillar of the Microsoft Peak Performance Initiative. The Nomad Expert Technician System, the world's only hands-free wearable computer with a head-worn, head-up display, enables technicians and other mobile workers to overlay relevant information on their tasks, thereby reducing task time and guesswork by eliminating footsteps. Productivity and service quality are increased, resulting in higher profitability for the dealer, more money for the technician, and fewer comebacks and higher satisfaction for the customer.

"Microvision is pleased to support the Microsoft Peak Performance Initiative and we are honored to be selected as one of their launch support partners," stated Tom Sanko, Microvision Vice President, Marketing. "Providing a practical and cost effective mobile computing solution to the automotive industry is a priority for our business strategy and has been a key focus for Microvision since the introduction of the Nomad System last year. As a result of our plan to deploy our low cost, high performance wearable thin client computer with head-up display for automotive service, we specifically designed the Nomad System to use the Microsoft Windows CE .NET operating system coupled with Windows Server 2003 and Terminal Services. Feedback from customers over the past six months has been extremely positive, with proven service revenue and productivity gains of 10% -- 25%."

The Microsoft Peak Performance Initiative is designed to help the automotive community accelerate insight through advanced analysis services, drive innovation by allowing teams to better collaborate, and impact performance via increased visibility into operations across the manufacturing value chain. Based on extensive research and feedback from partners, customers and industry experts, Microsoft's Peak Performance Initiative provides an innovative and cost effective approach that helps automotive customers to take full advantage of their legacy investments while connecting key systems, people and organizations across the automotive supply chain to remove the barriers that stifle innovation and competitiveness.

"We are pleased to have Microvision as one of our select launch partners for the Peak Performance Initiative," said Kyle Solomon, Worldwide Industry Manager, Automotive, Microsoft Corp. "Microvision's innovative display technology, coupled with its integration of Microsoft's operating platforms and applications, has resulted in a solution that drives value for Dealers and Automakers alike. It is innovators like Microvision that come up with creative uses for the .Net platform that will help our mutual customers achieve peak operational performance in today's competitive automotive marketplace."
