The projector for the trouser pocket: "Neffos P1" smartphone concept
Concept study Neffos P1 projects images on an area of up to five meters diagonally via an integrated laser projector
• Smartphone brand of TP-Link presents IFA visitors "Projector Phone"
• Extraordinary contrast ratio of 5,000: 1
• Battery provides up to four hours of mobile movie pleasure
Hofheim am Taunus / Berlin, August 30, 2018 - At IFA 2018 , TP-Link presents an innovative concept study of its smartphone brand Neffos. The "Projector Phone" Neffos P1 acts as a mini-projector that uses integrated laser projector to transfer HD content up to five meters diagonally onto walls. In recent years, Neffos products have rolled the market and convinced industry experts and customers. The Neffos P1 is in no way inferior and combines productivity and portability with stunning multimedia capabilities.
Clear and high-resolution projection thanks to powerful hardware
In order to project content directly from the hardware, the P1 uses a micro-electro-mechanical system of the US military (MEMS laser technology). On a flat wall or a canvas, a clear and high-resolution image is created using a three-color light beam. At a distance of 1.8 meters between the phone and the screen, the screen size is the size of a 70 inch TV. Under optimal conditions even a screen diagonal of 200 inches (about five meters) is possible.
"We are well aware that the concept of 'Projector Phones' has already existed in the past," says Markus Kohlstock, Senior PR and Marketing Manager, TP-Link Germany. "However, we strongly believe that the market is now ready for the P1 and its versatility in both professional and private. We will use the IFA to obtain more customer feedback and then decide whether the concept study will become a production model. "
Lively and detailed images thanks to a strong contrast ratio
The P1 has an intelligent keystone correction that automatically straightens the projected image - regardless of how the smartphone is aligned, the software calculates a rectangular image. The Neffos P1 achieves a contrast ratio of 5,000: 1 in order to produce a picture that is as vivid as possible and rich in detail, with deep, dark and rich light shades. This is far beyond what a standard digital projector with DLP technology does: The typical DLP projector has a native contrast ratio of 400: 1. The superior contrast ratio of the Neffos P1 allows for impressive high resolution imaging.
Extended color space
The technique of the P1 is capable of displaying a much wider range of colors than most other devices. It supports 150 percent of the NTSC color space, while DLP and LED projectors make between 90 percent and 128 percent. The color space of a regular LCD TV covers only 60 percent. The extended color space offers content creators, especially filmmakers and app developers, the opportunity to present their works according to their own vision.
Handy energy bundle
The small MEMS projector built into the Neffos P1 consumes little power and can continuously project an image for up to four hours with a single charge of the 4,000mAh battery. Although the P1 is only 10mm thick and weighs only 203g, the projected image can reach a diagonal of up to five meters. The phone, including smartphone projector, fits just like any other smartphone, just in every pocket.
