Take a look at this excerpt from a speech by John Kerry on June 3, 2004:
Call me crazy, but it sounds to me like he is saying if he is elected, he will purchase a Nomad for every soldier in the US Armed Forces.
Right now, the technology exists to let a soldier see what’s over the next hill or around the next bend in the road. Every soldier in every unit should have access to that modern breakthrough, which can be the difference between life and death. As president, I will see to it that they do.
Call me crazy, but it sounds to me like he is saying if he is elected, he will purchase a Nomad for every soldier in the US Armed Forces.

There's just no way the Nomad is rugged enough, small enough or low power enough for dismounted military in the field. The Land Warrior(SI) dismounted program is already slated to use 34,000 OLED microdisplays from eMagin corp (EMA) starting in 2005. Kerry is just blowing smoke from a program that's already in motion.

Well, for one, that thing's not see-through.
