  2. Ah.. Ben, out of all the videos I don't think this one Shows the Show product very well... Seems very fake and corny. What’s with all the different videos? Spend the money on bring the products to market. Not silly videos!

  3. "Spend the money on bringing the products to market. Not silly videos!"

I totally agree. These amateurish videos with the horrid, unbearable acting are going to do nothing to sway the OEMs. These companies already understand what people are going to use picoprojectors for.

Sure, the end-consumer might need some help right now envisioning "why in the world you would need a portable projector".

But I'm not sure how anyone could get past the extreme cheesiness of these videos to even consider the "cool factor."

Coming from a dedicated MVIS long, these videos were a waste of money. I hope it wasn't much. And I hope those 'actors' find work in another field.

Are you the guy that said Humphrey Bogart was a stiff? Take a chill pill and do as your name suggests. Lighten up.

Another sturocks public service announcement. :)

  5. Silly Videos???

I don't think so! This is the you tube generation, and this helps to stimulate the minds of this generation to the endless possibilities.

And what high paid consultant told you that?

Did you hear that Ben? Is mvis looking for "high paid consultants?" I will forward my contact info soon... lol

  8. I'm sorry, that was not meant to be read as a personal flame and I should have been more detailed. What I meant was... In my business many marketing consults try to sell you BS sometimes to get you to spend money with them on things that do nothing but spend your money. As a long stock holder in my option this is a waste of money. Now if some employee at MVIS was producing this at a reduced rate or on company time then good job! I am 38, I had my two sons 9 and 13 who are young generation and my 22 year old brother review the newer videos and they all said the same thing.. “that was stupid”.

I know what you are saying just having fun. I am 53 I have six grandchildren, when they sleep over we watch their shows on TV. What I see is this same kind of marketing, it never did much for me but in the tween market it works. We had to jump though hoops to get movie tickets for a Hannah Montana movie two months in advance. It is a multibillion dollar market. I think the Show projector is being targeted for this market as much as any. Don't sell this market short. Just my opinion.

  10. I don't disagree that this one is pretty corny. But I really love the one with the two kids and the music video.

Think about it this way -- today, kids don't have pico projectors in their rooms. People don't use pico projectors in bars, cars, elevators, etc. By illustrating some of the expected use scenarios of the product, we're taking what would otherwise be abstract ideas ("kids will love this for sharing video with friends") and making it real. (And yeah, we didn't get Cate Blanchett or whoever to do the acting... :-P)

Another thing to consider, especially for the 'music video' one is that this use case emphasizes the value of our infinite focus capability. She goes from projecting on the pillow to the ceiling instantly without having to adjust any focus knobs...

YouTube and other social media websites allow us to communicate our message to a broad audience, as cost effectively as possible. You guys can track the videos and how many times they've been seen by going to MVIS Video on You Tube.

Ben I'm shocked. I truly think you are selling this market short. I beg to differ. The foolishness that occurs in the NYC Club scene, by your typical 20 something patron, begs for a new toy as illustrated by the video. Kids games in the back seat of the SUV? Please!!!

  12. Then the first place anyone/OEM should market is Disney Channel. That darn channel is on 3 TV's in my house aLLLLLLLL day long. Can't stand it. Can only watch Zach & Cody and Hannah so many times. And my kids cell phone bills are higher than mine. Give the SHOW to Disney and let them use it on the these shows, then SHOW will take the world. Heck if MVIS did that I would invest everything penny I got.

Now that is not only funny but so very true. That is the ticket to riches beyond belief.

  14. Hi Stu,

What I meant to say is that these are the use case scenarios that are envisioned by us and our customers. We believe that SHOW and devices like it will be used in all these environments once it is available for sale. Purpose of the videos is just to illustrate the prototypes at work doing what they're going to do...delighting people in lots of different environments and scenarios.

  15. Hey Ben,

Thanks for explaining. I think the videos are all excellent examples of possible uses. Corny is good! Corny is Fun! I can think of hundreds of other business and fun applications. When the OEM models are available, I'll bet we see many many more uses which never ever crossed our minds. While the embedded version is considered the Holy Grail, I am actually very enthused by the stand alones flexibility of plug and play in multiple devices. As another poster suggested just give a few to the right celebs or go into a few hot clubs and flash pictures or phrases, use them at MTV's Beach Party, Kids on Disney etc. Microvision won't be able to make enough PicoP modules to fill the instant demand. Create the Buzz. The OEM's would have to be blind not to understand what they are seeing.

sturocks the the marketing maven! Turn me loose!

  16. Okay, maybe I was being a bit harsh. And at any rate, I hope the videos are successful for the purpose intended.

Anyway, they couldn't have cost THAT much to produce them... the day rates for the 'actors' probably didn't bust the budget. :-)

  17. Gee, did not mean to spark all this! In any case... Go MVIS GO! I just wish I had the money to be a OEM. I seem to come up with new ideas every hour. Like projecting coupons/sales/news/tv and other marketing on floors in super stores, supermarkets, just like the flat screens at checks out have been popping up over the past few year. Just as Sturocks mentioned, the embedded is the Holy Grail to some, but the possibilities are endless…. Anything that is on a screen or printed sign can be projected.

To me, MicroVision is the missing key to interfacing.
